Pioneers of Oregon Pinot Noir

In the 1970’s, Steve and Carol Girard were busy crafting fine wine in the Napa Valley, that is, until Pinot Noir got under their skin. Seduced by the Pinot Noir grape, they spent five years searching for the best vineyard sites, and in the late 1980’s packed their bags for the 145-acre estate they called Benton-Lane.

At the time, there were few Pinot Noir producers in the area, but because of the long sunny days, high diurnal shift, perfect soils and climate, Steve and Carol saw the perfect opportunity to craft exceptional Pinot Noir. They farm the estate using a blended system of sustainable, organic and biodynamic practices and practice minimal intervention winemaking to craft a Pinot Noir that is silky, elegant, complex and layered.

Today, Benton-Lane wines have received more Top 100 Wines of the Year than any other still wine producer in Oregon.
